Unplug the electrical connectors for both oxygen sensors, remove the driver's side oxygen sensor to gain more clearance between the transmission and the exhaust system during transmission removal.
Remove the exhaust flange bolts
Remove the small bolts that hold the dust shield to the transmission bellhousing.
Remove the 2 inner bolts that hold the transmission to the engine block as shown in the picture.
NOTE: If you removed all the bolts that attach the transmission bellhousing to the engine block located on the transmission side you will need to loosen the two back bolts ( one shown in the image ) but you will have to leave them finger tight, once you have a floor jack underneath and the crossmember has been removed you can remove them completely.
Remove the two nuts that hold the transmission mount to the crossmember as shown in the picture.
Next, remove the bolt that holds the exhaust retaining bracket to the transmission mount.
Place a floor jack underneath the transmission to hold it in place, remove the bolts that hold the crossmember to the frame and remove it from the truck.
Have an assistant operate the floor jack while you remove the two remaining bolts to be able to slide the transmission away from the engine, if the transmission is stuck to the engine, you can use a small pry bar to separate them, pull the transmission away from the engine, once the input shaft has cleared the clutch disc and pressure plate have your assistant lower the floor jack slowly, once the jack is all the way out, slide it with the transmission out from under the truck, set the transmission aside.
