GM Fuel filter

Google

  - In a previous page we explained how a fuel filter works and its location, in this page we will show you how to replace a fuel filter in a GM vehicle.
- Most GM vehicles ( Chevrolet, GMC, Oldsmobile, Buick, Cadillac,Pontiac ) use a similar fuel filter, so if you own a GM vehicle ( car, truck or SUV ), the following steps needed to replace the fuel filter are very likely to apply.

The vehicle we used to illustrate how to replace a GM fuel filter is a Chevy Astro Van, but like we just mentioned, the same steps will apply to most GM vehicles.

  - Relieve the fuel pressure as described on our previous page.

Use two wrenches to loosen the fuel lines, one wrench to hold the filter in place, and the second wrench to loosen the line.

  - Remove the bolt that secures the filter bracket to the frame of the vehicle

  - Slide the bracket down and remove the fuel filter.

NOTE: All other GM vehicles, remove the filter and bracket together

  - Lubricate the o-ring seals in the fuel lines with petroleum jelly prior to installing the fuel filter, this will ensure that you won't damage them by installing them dry on the new filter.

Proceed to install the items in the reverse order you took them off.

Start the vehicle and check for leaks.
