 Using needle nose locking pliers, remove the timing belt tensioner spring.

Note that the spring in this truck has some rust, we will replace this spring with a new one.















Next, loosen the timing belt tensioner bolt, release the tension from the timing belt and remove the old belt from the engine.


















Remove the timing belt tensioner bolt and remove the tensioner.





















Remove the 3 nuts that fasten the thermostat housing to the water pump and remove the thermostat housing.

















Next, remove the old thermostat.

















pay close attention to the position of the bracket attached to the water pump that holds the timing belt tensioner spring prior to removing the water pump retaining bolts.














remove all the water pump bolts and remove the water pump.

Pay attention to the lenght of the bolts, some bolts are shorter and they need to be installed back in their original location.













Once the old water pump has been removed, remove the old silicone from the mounting surface using a scraper as shown in the image.

Make sure to keep these particles from entering the cooling passages, if necessary, plug the water passages with shop towels when removing the silicone from the engine block.
